LOOK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX

‘Look outside of the box’ I would always hear this expression and thought I fully understood what it meant until I read this inspiring story which gave me more insight on how to deal successfully with life. The soldier in the story could have easily chosen to dwell in the misery brought about by war. He may have looked at the deck of cards and feel sorry he can’t use it to play with his loved ones. What he saw in the deck of cards not only made him grateful but more importantly made him hopeful of the future ahead.

True, Life is not always a bed of roses. Just like a wheel, we journey through life with its ups and downs. Jesus did not promise a life without trial but He did promise to be with us every step of the way. Rather than looking at problems as a burden, why not look at it as a challenge and imagine yourself winning. There are always 2 sides in every situation but habit tells you to look at what is negative - the black dot on the massive white paper.

I dare you today to look outside of the box. Forget what is obvious, most of the time these are things you can’t change. Be creative, view another perspective, and open yourself to the positive side. Believe me, there’s always a blessing in disguise.

I will never look at a deck of cards the same again… will you?

Deck of Cards

It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard.

The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week.

As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.

Just then an army sergeant came in and said, 'Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?'

The soldier replied, 'I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord.'

The sergeant said, 'Looks to me like you're going to play cards.'

The soldier said, 'No, sir. You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country,

I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.'

The sergeant asked in disbelief, 'How will you do that?'

'You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God

The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments

The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.

The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John .

The Five is for the five virgins there were ten but only five of them were glorified.

The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.
The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.

The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives -- the eight people God spared from the flood that destroyed the Earth.

The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him.

The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.

The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.

The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.

The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.

When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year..

There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.

The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

Each suit has thirteen cards -- there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.

So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for.'

The sergeant just stood there. After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, 'Soldier, can I borrow that deck of cards?'

This story is offered to all servicemen and women all around the world. Let us stop and say a small prayer for them and their families. Of all the gifts you could give a Soldier, prayer is the very best one.

THIS DAY AWAITS YOU

The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.
- Ben Stein

Life is how you make it. Every waking moment is a choice, either you wallow in defeat or strive to succeed. Open yourself to the powerful force of the universe, declare your mission, believe in your strength. Nothing is more important than that you feel good.

From this point forward, decide you’re going to do what it takes to have a GREAT DAY.

Look at the Good Picture

The mind is the most powerful organ of your body. What you put in your mind happens. It only sees what you instruct it to see and blocks out everything else. Putting it another way, what you choose to focus on is what you get!

Have you ever noticed that people who always complain about everything that’s going wrong with their lives only get more problems? That’s because these people focus on problems!

The reason why people get discouraged is because all they see is their problem. It is their only picture. To attract positive things and make good things happen, you need to change your picture.

In the book - The Secret you will read that you attract into your life the predominant thoughts in your mind. If you choose to complain and focus on problems, that’s what you get! More and more of them! You will miss out on all the wonderful opportunities awaiting for you out there.

The world is created with all the beautiful blessings you can ever imagine. You may not be receiving the blessing because the picture in your mind prevents you. Start living a successful life, create beautiful pictures now.

Yes to Positivity

Staying positive is key to a happy and successful life. Self-hypnosis is the fastest way to clear your mind and re-focus. Train yourself to absorb only good thoughts. Often times, it’s good to stay away from people who make you unhappy or uncomfortable. Treat life’s circumstances as a learning experience, this way you welcome everything with a grateful heart.

Dubai-based holistic practitioner and hypnotherapist Graca Ward shares 7 tips to keep a positive mind.

1/ Psych yourself up
If you are dreading an event, imagine a time when you felt confident and happy. Play this in your mind as if you are watching a movie. Imagine the play of colours, turn up the volume, expand the picture in your mind and feel the emotion. Close your eye and visualize the applause you receive from people. This exercise will help turn fear to confidence.

2/ Act confident
Start your day by making up your mind to act confident. One way to feel good is when you look good, so dress up your way to confidence. Here’s a secret… confidence can be faked – there is no difference between someone who is really confident from the one who is acting confident . Project yourself with pride, do this everyday – before you know it you’ve turn yourself into one hell of a confident person.

3/ Ask help
Don’t hesitate to ask help specially if you need one. A hypnotherapist can teach you how to use self-hypnosis for relaxation, self-improvement and even to boost sport performance.

4/ Protect yourself
Visualization techniques can help protect you from other people’s negativity. Some people imagine a protective bubble around them. Others imagine strengthening their own aura or energy field so that negative vibrations bounce off them. Daily, I would chant positive words and imagine a pure white light protecting me. A hypnotherapist can help you with cord-cutting, where you emotionally release the person who is affecting you in a negative way. You may find that in real life, the person actually goes away or stops ‘pressing your buttons’.

5/ At bedtime
Repetition of certain keywords can be hypnotically relaxing. Clear your mind before sleep by repeating, ‘I am floating’, or ‘I am relaxing’, in your mind. Listening to the sound of waves or raindrops can also put you in a relaxed state.

6/ Think BIG
Feeling that we are unworthy of success can be very destructive. You may have heard this phrase, ‘Who do you think you are?’ while growing up and then grew up to believe that you deserve only an average life. This is a limiting belief that stop you from getting BIG! Free yourself now of these false beliefs because we all deserve to grow and succeed.

7/ Yes, you can!
Yes, I can! Think about words that make you feel strong. Say words that give you power. Live by the words that represent your best image. Repeat and affirm these positive words daily (changing when necessary) and feel the magical power of your words.

Start Your Mornings Right

The way we start our mornings determine the outcome of our day as a whole.

Ever notice that our morning moods tend to set the tone for the rest of the day? If we feel well-rested and inspired, our day tends to unfold far more positively than if we were to wake up sleep-deprived, rushed and cranky. One way to make your day positive, happy and inspiring - start your mornings right.

Try this 8 morning habits to create a positive mindset that will give you the mental and spiritual alertness to truly appreciate the beautiful moments that you will discover on your own for the rest of the day.

1. Wake up early - consistently. Early is subjective for everyone, depending on the kind of schedule you have.  “Early” is whatever time that is not the easiest to wake up to, but well worth the effort to do all the things in the morning – be it meditation, exercising or cooking a big breakfast– that will help you feel truly alive and focused for the rest of the day.  Waking up early helps you accomplish more and prevents you from starting the day in a rush.  Rushing in the morning tends to be a negative start.

2. Meditate in the morning, even if it’s only for five minutes gives focus. As soon as you get out of bed, sit in a comfortable position (away from your bed, to avoid the temptation of going back to sleep). Rather than mentally rushing through the daily to-do list or remorse over your poor quality of sleep, allow your mind to soak in the subtle noises that can only come from the start of a brand new day. Do you hear birds chirping, other family members cooking breakfast? Focus on your in breath and out breath, one lungful of air at a time. Do this every morning, and your days will feel sharper, clearer and more full of life.

3. Do a dry brushing cleanse before you hop into the shower.  All you need is a long-handle wooden brush with natural bristles and about five to ten minutes of your time. Before you shower, use the brush on your dry skin to exfoliate your skin, invigorate your circulation and help your lymphatic system do its job. Doing this in the mornings is not only invigorating, it also helps to become fully aware of your body and appreciate everything that it does.

4. Massage lotion on your hands and feet. Just like dry-skin brushing before I shower, massaging lotion on hands and feet is a soothing physical sensation that keeps you rooted in your body and not in your thoughts.

5. Really look at your coffee and tea (and other breakfast drinks). When you are pouring milk into your coffee, pay attention to the swirls the milk makes on the dark liquid surface of your drink. When you drop a tea bag into boiling water, watch the tea ingredients create a mist in the clear water. Smell your coffee. Savor your orange juice. Whatever you drink in the morning, it is just as alive and deserving of attention as everything else you do in your life.

6. Exercise in the morning. So much easier said than done! Try to find an activity you enjoy doing.  Do this in-front of the mirror imagining the body you dream of having to get motivated. Getting your heart beating and your body moving early in the day gives you the natural high to stay focused and present for the rest of your long and busy day.

7. Water your houseplants.  Plants have a way of refreshing a space.  Plants emit oxygen and absorbs the harmful carbon dioxide.  Sharing your breakfast with a potted plant on your kitchen table  really makes you appreciate the minor miracle that exists even in the most commonplace living things. Seeing new leaves uncurl, watching older leaves wilt, noticing the subtle changes the plant undergoes with the changing weather–it really puts things in perspective and helps you stay present.

8. Journal, draw, play an instrument, listen to music. Be creative. Being creative in the morning is one of the best ways to feel present for the rest of the day. What is your passion?  Starting your day by doing the things you love brings out positive energy useful for the rest of your day.

The Power of Limiting Beliefs / some things are not taught in school

Are you stuck and can' t seem to progress with your goals? Could be your limiting beliefs are stopping you.

Limiting beliefs are false truths we are made to believe or taught to us as we are growing up. Could be from our family, teachers, school, etc. They are within our subconscious and hinders us from realizing the fulfillment of our dreams. Most of the time we are not aware of this. I don't know about this and the power it has in the way I think until I watched this inspiring video of the mindmovies team.

Watch here to see for your self.

Isn't that great? This video plus the free gifts I received made me understand a lot of things and more importantly realized that by changing our pattern of thought we can move to greater heights in fulfilling our dreams and goals faster and more efficiently.

What are your limiting beliefs? Start writing them and begin the change.
